I am

David B. Himself
- Frenchman speaking English in Japan.
- Writes things. Tries to be better at it, both quantitatively and qualitatively.
- Teacher
- Hopes the world doesn’t end soon. Not too optimistic about that.
- Father of two little angels that drive me nuts.
- Friend of crows.
- Monster in the classic Dr. Who.
- Bollywood action movie anti-hero.
- Wastes too much time on social media.
Yes, I know, I have too many social media and blogs/sites!
Well, this page is to help you figure out where to find me. 🙂
Fediverse
I think the Fediverse is the only possible sane future for the social internet and its various media and networks.
If you’re not sure what it is, please click here.
You can find me on Mastodon talking primarily about Japan, pop culture and more.
PixelFed is similar to Instagram but better in many ways and… also on the Fediverse!

Loops is to share short vertical videos, but not dependent on some unreliable company.
There are more places where to find me, but those are the main ones.
Corporate Social Media
I’m doing my best to escape it, but it’s difficult to be entirely free from it.
If you’re on Bluesky and you really insist on being there, instead of the Fediverse, fine, I’m there too:
You also follow my Fediverse accounts on BlueSky thanks to Bridgy Fed (you should bridge your accounts too, click on the link):
A few words about Threads. If you insist on using that thing, know that you can now follow pretty much any Fediverse account from Threads, including the ones listed above. You just need to allow sharing to the Fediverse in your settings. Please, do it.
Blogs and Sites and more…

Liminal Web is my main blog and newsletter. It covers a wide range of topics : Contemporary art and life in Japan, old postcards from France, music, a “survival guide to 21st tech,” and more… Just check it out.
Glitched Earth is a blog and a newsletter. It’s also a journal of the 21st century.
Latest Post:
- Ugly Japan
A little while ago, I read Dogs and Demons by Alex Kerr, whom you’ve probably heard of if you have any interest in Japan. If you haven’t, you should. He’s one of the most important Japanologists alive today.I’m not going to

I’m a contributor to Wild Zooo. No, it’s not just shitposts, there are also cultural things and a little more.
Latest post:
- Introducing the Pogues to my son…
After giving it some thought and even talking about it with an Irish friend, it’s probably because both style are pretty high energy, with many different instruments, varied sounds and quite festive… Maybe?
